EMPLOYMENT

  • As Assistant News Director, it is my job to help the News Director with managing the operation of the studio. This includes helping run pitch meetings, schedule roles for the weekly newscasts, provide guidance for new reporters, help solve any interpersonal conflicts, and executive produce the morning shows. It is also my current responsibility to manage DITV's politics team and plan our upcoming election show, which is anticipated to run the entire night and provide an opportunity for all reporters to have a unique role.

  • DITV is the television branch of the award-winning Daily Iowan. As a TV reporter and producer, I have to find and pitch interesting and informative stories, usually within a matter of days. Once those stories are approved, it is my responsibility to film B-roll to be shown on-air, and either write the script for anchors to recite while the B-roll is being shown, or fully produce a package myself that presents all the necessary information in an engaging and tasteful manner.

  • As Videographer, I have been given the opportunity to train with industry-level Sony cameras, Gimbal mounts, and audio mixers.

  • After a semester of DJing for the station, I applied to be the News Director on the staff. That role went to someone else, but I made a good impression on the hiring board, and they offered me the role of Production Director. This role requires me to sort through old PSAs, bumpers, ads, and stingers, deciding which ones are out of fashion and replace them with new audio, recorded and edited by myself. I was also tasked with designing the Podcast system, which allows students of any background and experience level to record a podcast episode in our studio.

  • From June 2020 to August 2021, with a seasonal break between the months of September 2020 and June 2021, I was a cook and server for Wet n Wild Las Vegas, a popular waterpark in the city. While working under these titles, I was required to prepare, cook, and serve food in a safe and timely manner, cooperating with the rest of my kitchen staff to assure the process went as smoothly as possible.

  • During the off-season of Wet n Wild, I was a cook and server at Chic-fil-A. Responsibilities were the same, as I was required to prepare, cook, and serve food in a safe and timely manner, cooperating with the rest of my kitchen staff to assure the process went as smoothly as possible.
